Yuan Luo, PhD, is a tenured Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he directs the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and serves as Chief AI Officer of the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS). He earned a PhD in Computer Science from MIT, an MS in Computer Science from SUNY Albany, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University.

His research spans machine learning, natural language processing, time-series analysis, integrative genomic analysis, and big-data analytics applied to clinical and biomedical problems, with a focus on integrating structured EHR data, unstructured clinical notes, medical imaging, and -omic data to support personalized therapies and clinical trials.

He has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, the American Medical Informatics Association, and the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics. In PAC-AID he serves as an external mentor for Project 3.
