Yuanyuan Fu, PhD, is an Assistant Professor and Bioinformatics Data Scientist in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where she works in the Bioinformatics Core. She earned her PhD in Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering, with a focus on cancer epidemiology, at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, after working in the Cancer Epidemiology Program at the UH Cancer Center.

Her research has two main thrusts: genetic biomarker discovery for cancer early detection and prognosis to improve patient outcomes, and cancer health disparity research across multiethnic and minority populations to advance health equity. Her work draws on molecular epidemiology, computational biology, genetics, and bioinformatics.

She was named a 2024 NIH MOSAIC Scholar and holds an NIH K99 award from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities to identify biological factors that could be targeted to mitigate colorectal cancer disparities in Native Hawaiians. In PAC-AID she serves as Co-Director of the MEDAI (Medical AI & Data Science) Core.
