Kevin Cassel, DrPH, MPH, is an Associate Professor at the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center and serves as the center’s Associate Director for Community Outreach and Engagement. He earned a DrPH in Community-Based Translational Research and an MPH in Epidemiology, both from the Department of Public Health at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and joined the cancer center in 1995.

A full member of the Population Sciences in the Pacific Program, he has more than 25 years of experience educating patients, the public, and health-care providers on cancer prevention and control. His research employs community-based participatory methods focused on improving clinical-trial participation, adapting cancer-prevention interventions for underserved communities, and engaging young people in prevention efforts.

He has held leadership roles in NIH/NCI-funded work, including as a Core Co-PI on the Pacific Island Partnership for Cancer Health for Everyone. In PAC-AID he leads Project 1 on AI-assisted triage of skin lesions.
