Karen Glanz, PhD, MPH, is the George A. Weiss University Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, holding professorships in the Perelman School of Medicine (Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics) and the School of Nursing. She earned her MPH and PhD in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan.

Her research in community and health-care settings focuses on obesity, nutrition and the built environment, skin cancer prevention, reducing health disparities, dissemination and implementation science, and health communication technologies. She directs the UPenn Prevention Research Center and serves as Program Co-Leader of the Cancer Control Program at Penn’s Abramson Cancer Center.

Glanz has published more than 540 articles and chapters and is lead editor of five editions of the foundational text Health Behavior: Theory, Research and Practice. She has been named a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher since 2016 and was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2013. In PAC-AID she serves as an external mentor for Project 1.
